May 13 - day off; touring anyway

I figure the more tours I can get on, the more I'll learn from other drivers. This was Susan's first day at the Hopi House, meeting and greeting the retail customers.  (Already gotten great feedback on her positive, can do attitude!  No surprise there.  She's the best! Happy Mother's Day to Susan and all the moms out there.)

So I decided to do the same tour I did yesterday but with a different tour guide. So different pictures from the same stops.  Below is a 180 degree panoramic shot.

Part of the Battleship Formation on the right.  Colorado River in the top center of the picture.

Below is a Pinyon pine on the left and Utah juniper on the right.  They are the most common trees around the Canyon (along with Ponderosa pine).

Below is a Pinyon pine.
(It's also spelled PiƱon pine, but trying to find the tilde is really difficult.  According to the dictionary, both spellings are correct.)

Across the Canyon; called Birdseye Point.  Well named.

This is Granite Rapids as seen from Hopi Point.  The Colorado River is the only river that rates the rapids on a 10 scale.  Granite Rapids is an 8.  The river is about 100 yards wide at this point.

Even looks ferocious from 10 miles away!
